Organizing the Unorganized - Gender at Work

Objectives
The main objectives of the conference are:
- Imposing Gender balance in all internal policy making and removal of all barriers that directly or indirectly discriminate against the participation of women in position of leadership;
- Seeking support from different stakeholders for amending the government as well as trade union statues and structures in order to incorporate the law for protection of informal economy workers;
- Discussion on the effect of Globalisation on Ethiopian women workers;
- Review and discuss the best way of mobilizing and organizing informal workers.

Date and Venue
The conference will be held in Addis Ababa from 12 to 13 March 2008 at Christian Relief Development Association Training Center (CRDA), which is located in Kaliti.

Conference participants include the following invited members of organization:
- Members of parliamentarian and Ministries;
- Informal workers;
- NGOs/CSOs and associations operating in the area of informal workers;
- Key decision-makers operating in the area of informal workers; and
- Relevant international organization and agencies.
Transportation
The organizers will provide free transportation service for all participants getting arround from downtown to the conference center and vice versa.

Expenses
Organizers will cover, as allotted budget, travel costs and per diem for officially invited participatns coming from outside Addis Ababa. Therefore, participatns coming from outside Addis Ababa are required to get a letter of support from organization/association they represent at the conference.
The organizers will not cover expenses for self-invited [unofficially invited] individuals for their lunch and traveling cost outside Addis Ababa.
